Even though the rate of infections and deaths seems to have slowed, we will likely be over 80,000 by sometime in June. And this assumes that there are no significant outbreaks spurred by the reopening of the economies in several states. Hint - we probably will have at least a few. That is not a wish, it is just the inevitable result of the tradeoff we are making. Hopefully, they won't be severe and that they don't occur in large population centers which will be much harder to control. Again, while this was not Cholera, the Plague or Ebola in terms of the mortality rate, it was a very easily spread virus, that killed way too many of those that came down ill for comfort. And New York City is even worse than NY State. About one in every 800 New Yorkers has died. Will approach one in 700 by the end of the month.
