Unemployment Armageddon?

As we're seeing in in the case of Florida's Obamacare website-like unemployment benefit registration system,  there's a huge risk looming with coronavirus putting so many people out of work.

What happens if similar issues arise in other states where hundreds of thousands and even millions try to register and their ineptly/poorly designed systems don't work or the people in charge spend their work days in the internet instead of doing their jobs?

Will the federal government be expected to intervene?

Thoughts?

Thank God Florida has Andy to help when he is not on here researching from 2016

Frustration rises over Florida’s jobless benefits system

Frustration with Florida’s dysfunctional unemployment system is growing as thousands of people laid off due to the coronavirus response wrestle with busy signals and overwhelmed computer servers, and the complaints are not just coming from claimants who can’t get their money.

I hope other states' systems are more competently designed and supported.

You'd almost think the folks in charge were surfing the internet all day.

Every day.

I wonder how many "Andy's" spend their day on msg boards instead of doing their jobs?

https://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2020/04/03/its-a-sh-sandwich-republicans-rage-as-florida-becomes-a-nightmare-for-trump-1271172

Already anxious about Trump’s chances in the nation’s biggest swing state, Republicans now are dealing with thousands of unemployed workers unable to navigate the Florida system to apply for help. And the blowback is directed straight at Trump’s top allies in the state, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Rick Scott.  Privately, Republicans admit that the $77.9 million system that is now failing Florida workers is doing exactly what Scott designed it to do — lower the state’s reported number of jobless claims after the great recession.

“It’s a sh-- sandwich, and it was designed that way by Scott,” said one DeSantis advisor. “It wasn’t about saving money. It was about making it harder for people to get benefits or keep benefits so that the unemployment numbers were low to give the governor something to brag about.”

Republican Party of Florida chairman Joe Gruters was more succinct: “$77 million? Someone should go to jail over that.”

That's nice work.  Won't stop the children from being childish but good work nonetheless.

Who knew electing a guy as governor who engaged in massive medicare fraud in the past might have some negative effects on how the Florida state government works?

We have someone on this site - a serial every day and all day poster during this crisis - who publicly claims responsibility for the testing and updating of the system in question.

He plays for your team.

And he scrupulously avoids this thread.

Curious, no?

Maybe GSB can put together a Q&A session with him, eh? That what you're thinking too?

and "Privately"  it is pretty certain that they are blaming the Dems, leftist policies, and the 'system'....not their guy

Do you think this type of one off propaganda that attempts to blame the entire system on some single politician will work?

Maybe if you repost it in a few places it will catch on....

Have fun keeping your fingers crossed...

🤞

PS: You must have gotten this article from Guru...he loves to try and speak for others (incorrectly of course)...in an attempt to influence a crowd.... 👍

Not really, no.

Sounds more to me like you've been arguing with him for the past week, aren't happy with how it's going, resorted to doxxing, advocating for him to go do something else so you can have a safe space.

Make better arguments, or be funnier than he is, or put him on ignore, but doxxing is out of line.
