Is our military leadership so inept at interpreting stability of situations that they actually believed they were leaving things in good hands? Did our military and government understand that over the past 20 years we essentially made 0 progress in Afghanistan, but simply failed to let us in on the secret that we were just wasting time. Did we simply use the change of administration as a way to slide out of a no win situation knowing coverage and criticism would be limited? What do you political gurus think we should have done? What was the mission to begin with? Etc. If the mission became train their forces to defend themselves, how long should we stay there training them? At some point you had to leave them on their own. It can't be helped that they were weak and the training didn't help them. That shit can't be helped. We couldn't stay there indefinitely. We were bleeding over a trillion dollars per year there for apparently nothing. Nothing. Nothing to show for it but dead soldiers and damaged soldiers and an exploding national debt. Lol.
