Funny how in the commisioner’s message he emphasizes addressing concerns of member schools, and then the intent to tighten up on transfer documentation with respect to establishing a mechanism for consistently applied change of residence, and gives the hypothetical example of an Irvine family moving to Riverside like that’s among concerns by the membership. LMAO. This mew tactic may help level the playing field amongst the public school “membership”, but is a boon to the privates for whom residency concerns are not the same. The title of his message “Help Is On The Way” is a joke. The only protection provided here is for the privates. The Southern Section has put together a new checklist that will be the standard whenever a parent moves and a school must approve the transfer for an official change of residence. This way, both the school and the parent will be protected. The amount of checks required is in inverse proportion to the $ donated by the parents to the CIFSS executive committee X (% chance) that said player will help defeat DLS in the SBG. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Ararar
CIF rule of teams not being able to play academy teams rears it’s ugly head for the first time in Basketball 🏀 tournament Sierra Canyon’s Missed Opportunity Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) has only lost to Montverde Academy, 57-49, and that game occurred AFTER La Lumiere defeated the Eagles. On its side of the bracket at Iolani, Sierra Canyon defeated No. 22 Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.), which captured the Beach Ball Classic title on New Year’s Eve, but in accordance to CIF rules, Sierra Canyon cannot play La Lumiere. So in essence there was no championship game and Sierra Canyon missed out on a prime opportunity to play the team that just knocked off No. 1. Will Sierra Canyon get another opportunity like that this season? i don’t understand how they played Montverde but can’t play La Lumiere? This CIF rule is really going to impact basketball more than football. Top hoops academies like Oak Hill, Findlay Prep, Montverde, etc all play in the same national tournaments as Cali schools. Games against these teams are inevitable. It is a shame we will no longer be able to see games like MD vs Oak Hill which have been playing multiple times over the past 20+ years.

Apparently they don’t because they were not allowed to play the championship game against them.My question is how did they get to play Montverde? But if he has the chance to get a head gig in the NFL it would be hard not to take that in order to remain a coordinator.
Ararar
An Early Look at 2019: Who are the top four SoCal high school teams? Brandon Tatera Californiapreps.com Football Analyst The 2018 football season in the state of California is over, now we turn our eyes to 2019. Our top three ranked teams in 2018 are ranked very high in 2019. Here is our early 2019 Fab 4 in alphabetical order, headlined by the reigning back to back Open Division State Champion Mater Dei Monarchs. Centennial Corona Centennial finished 2018 as our third ranked team and will enter 2019 in likely the top three. Matt Logan’s offense returns its junior quarterback duo of Carter Freedland and Ala Mikaele. They combined for 3,058 passing yards and 32 touchdowns with nine rushing touchdowns in 2018. Nicholas Floyd is expected to be the full-time back after rushing for three scores as a junior. Gary Bryant is one of the most explosive players in Southern California. He returns at wide receiver along with Aaron Smith and Branden Alvarez on a talented unit on the outside. Freshman AJ Vaipulu started on the offensive line and is expected to be a mainstay on the unit for the future. Centennial returns its second and fifth leading tacklers in the linebacker duo of Simon Halland Josaiah Tanielu. Korey Foreman emerged as as a standout sophomore on the defensive line and is loaded with potential and college interest. He led the team in sacks with six. Isaiah Young is a talented Division 1 defensive back and leads that unit. Korey Foreman (Corona Centennial) Corona Del Mar Dan O’Shea’s Sea Kings made the CIF Southern Section Division 4 section finals in 2018 and return most of their offense in 2019. Ararar
California youth football supporters who defended their sport against a proposal this year that would have barred tackling have taken a new approach: going on the offensive. Under a bill supported by a coalition of youth football groups, California, beginning in 2021, would limit children to two 60-minute practices of full contact, while barring tackling in the sport’s offseason. The proposal introduced this month by Assemblyman Jim Cooper (D-Elk Grove) models the limitations on restrictions already in place for high school football in California, which caps full-contact practices to 90 minutes twice a week. The restrictions come amid growing concern from medical professionals who say repetitive collisions from hitting and blocking can cause long-term brain damage. “We want to improve the safety standards for youth tackle football across the state,” said Joe Rafter, president of Southern Marin Youth Football in the San Francisco Bay Area, who is working with Cooper’s office on the bill. “It’s the right thing to do.” But Rafter said their efforts would also block any new attempts by lawmakers to bar youth tackle football. A bill to set a minimum age of 12 to play organized tackle football died in April, but the authors of the legislation, AB 2108, promised to try again in 2019. Assembly members Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento) and Lorena Gonzalez (D-San Diego) cited research showing youths who began playing tackle football before age 12 developed cognitive, behavioral and mood problems earlier than those who began full-contact sports later. McCarty’s office said he plans to introduce another bill banning tackling in youth football. “I played organized football as a child and I love the sport to this day,” McCarty said after the bill was pulled from the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media Committee in April when it became apparent it did not have the votes to pass. “But love for football doesn’t mean that we should ignore science.” Cooper said he wants to ensure that kids can still play tackle football, but in a safer environment. Banning tackling outright goes too far, he said. “Americans love football and kids love playing football,” Cooper said. “However, we must ensure our children are safe while participating in contact sports.” READ LESS

Bosco lost a lot of kids since December.
