I dont see any argument for Ohio over GA since 2010 at least.

The talent and team depth gap is widening every single season... Georgias coaching is now some of the best in the country. The gap between the 2 states has been growing with the talent (FBS) gap. Which went from pretty close 12-15 years ago... To Georgia has now doubled Ohio. The gap in the 2 states is wide. And the people that hold Ohio sti having a shot at 4 some years, are those either IN Ohio, or in the Northeast that dislike the South in general. There are still some that are simply clueless and stuck in the 90s and refuse to understand the landscape has changed.

From GA at 4 to OH at 5 is a pretty wide gap. Ohio cant even claim to be THAT close to Top/Elite teams anymore. They have their usual 5-6 strong teams (Top 100), and a group of 8-10 good teams after that (Top 101-250)... After that, it doesnt even matter.

Im honestly surprised theres anyone left that believes this ANYWHERE. But like I said, some people still believe the Earth is flat. And humans were evolved from a cross-breeding of Neanderthals, and beings from the planet Nibiru to create a race of working slaves. Those same people also believe the real Stephen Hawkins died decades ago, and the one weve been seeing for so long was essentially a person that looked like Stephen Hawkins. And weve never been to outer space, and the Earth is a "closed circuit system".

Knowing all that, it wouldnt surprise me if some people thought Wisconsin was the #4 state.

Enough with the pontificating...... it's annoying and does nothing to strengthen your argument.

As to the the actual discussion...... I agree that the talent gap is a good point in favor of GA..... I think the problem with using that as your determining factor is that I don't think that talent has manifested itself into a bunch of BG's, MD's, SJB's at the top yet.

Team depth gap......do you mean roster size?  This is a concern, but affects our big D1 teams far less than the smaller teams. It really hasn't caught up yet, but probably will in the future

Georgia coaching is good but I see no reason to give them an edge over Ohio in this area.

This would be my main criteria for determining state's rankings.......and GA doesn't overwhelm Ohio in this area....this is where I think it can vary year to year.

What exactly has Ohio done recently?

Ohio plays the same Kentucky and Indiana teams yearly basically and doesn't exactly overwhelm.

GA is ahead of Ohio and Ohio and Louisiana are battling for 5th..

Um just off my head....

in the last 5 years, Wins against

BC, DBP, SJR, DEPAUL from NJ

SJP, P-R from PA

GILMAN, EASTERN CHRISTIAN ACADEMY from MD

MAINLAND, COCOA from FL

BEN DAVIS, WARREN CENTRAL from IN

BRENTWOOD ACADEMY from TN

TRINITY from KY

CASS TECH from MI

+ many more less relevant wins from FL, IL, MS, MO, KY, IN, MI

What makes Cali fball better than Georgia fball? The private schools?

I think with CA it simply boils down to sheer numbers. Having a population of 40 million makes it a lot easier to field more good teams than all the other states. I’m not saying GA doesn’t have good football (being the 4th best state is still pretty damn respectable). Even the players that don’t make the cut for the Trinity League are still good athletes and go play on decent teams.

NY is the only exception to the population rule. It’s still a head scratcher to me that they don’t have any powerhouse teams. I can only guess that it’s because they focus more on basketball than football. I could almost say the same for Illinois.

When you talk about Cali's numbers, I disagree. It's all good tho.

GA is good but they just don't regularly have that top 5 or top 10 team nationally that Cali usually does

I do feel Cali is top heavy but they tend to have the best top 3 or 4 teams of any state

Mater Dei

St John Bosco

Centennial

De La Salle

Got to admit that one hell of a top 4

Indeed, the games have to happen at some point.

If anything to quench to knowledge thirst on this board.

Glad to help,
