Desoto had 6A numbers way before Samples arrived at Duncanville. The Panthers do get transfers but not as many as folks think they do. They have had top 8 Texas enrollment numbers for years. Their problem was hiring a coach from Lake Travis who could not relate to the kids.

Even though I think a lot needs to go wrong before that happens; That sounds just like once 4A power La Marque ISD and its high school before they were shutdown, cleaned house, and were annexed down hear by Texas City ISD. They ran 4A football in Houston for a good while; It had always been kind of known as a ghetto school, and there had been rumors and talk that the school was more worried about winning state championships in football than the success of its students academically; Then, it finally went down hill and La Marque was closed down until they turned around and opened under the administration of Texas City. It was sad.

They have about 4-5 times as large a population as La Marque did; so hopefully that can be an incentive to make a change for the better. They have every reason to and they wouldn’t want to lose the prestige they have built there with the FBall 🏈 and BBall basketball 🏀 teams. They have a lot of momentum right now.

DevilDog
Allen’s Jonathan Simms breaks state record in 400 meters by running 45.12 He also broke Florida Sensation Tyrese cooper's Junior Olympics Record. Allen’s Jonathan Simms went undefeated in the 400 meters during the UIL season and capped his sophomore year by winning the Class 6A state title in 46.48. But he saved his best for this summer. Simms broke the state record in the 400 on Saturday by running 45.12 to win the 15-16 age division at the AAU Junior Olympics. His time broke the state record of 45.19 that was run by Mansfield Timberview’s Aldrich Bailey in 2012. Only five boys in U.S. high school history have run faster than Simms, according to Track & Field News, and it’s the 10th-best time ever. Jaylen Boardley (6'0, 190) - Texarkana Pleasant Grove: Rushed for 1,219 yards and 20 touchdowns, caught 23 passes for 428 yards and four scores to earn first-team all-district honors. Considering: Baylor, Houston, SMU, UTSA, Arkansas Maybe those bEast Pleasant Grove studs will have a better game vs CE Bryd (Shreveport) this year. I don't think CE Byrd will be all that great this year, they weren't all that great last year going 8-4 on the year. CE Byrd worked them pretty good last year 34-7. The only TD for Pleasant Grove, TX was a 26 yard fumble return for a TD in the 4th quarter, Pleasant Grove had 111 yards total offense while CE Byrd had 357 yards of offense, CE Byrd will travel to Pleasant Grove this year. https://foxsportstexarkana.com/2022/09/02/byrd-stings-pleasant-grove-33-7/

Champa
Good pickup for the Horns. I don't get all the angsty people in the comments, but I probably shouldn't take Twitter comments that seriously. Looking at the transfer portal, and wow did Atascocita get even richer. They're gonna be a handful this year. I'd probably put them at no2 in the area right now. They underachieve this year, and it's time for some heads to roll at the coaching level. I also like Westfield at the #2 spot if I can pinpoint who the QB will be. I heard they got a quality transfer from one of the klein schools but can’t confirm. It’s truly amazing the wasted talent on X (Twitter)… - the best GM’s and recruitniks, who see talent and never miss on a trade or draft pick. - political gurus with insight that nobody else knows about and law experts (without degree or experience) chiming in with theories. and of course last, - Stock pickers who never sell at a loss and beat the S&P 500 index for 25 years in a row.
