Record wise the best is 07-09 (47-1) with a win over a second place Evangel C.A. 🥈

Evangel was pretty decent in 2008, but John Curtis worked them pretty good too.....you have to remember that Evangel played 2A then and a 2A Louisiana schedule as did John Curtis. Evangel only played 2 of the Top 15  teams in Louisiana that year...got smashed by Curtis 35-14 and  Evangel edged out 4A Bastrop 14-6.

Evangel ended up #8 here, not #2

8 Evangel Christian Academy (Shreveport, LA) Louisiana 2A District 1 2A 13-2 6-0 (1st) 10-1 54.6 25.2 130-60
WINS: #11 Longview (TX) (forfeit), #227 Shiloh Christian (Springdale, AR) (49-9), #287 Bastrop (LA) (14-6), #923 St. James (LA) (31-7), #981 Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, LA) (38-0), #2964 Homer (LA) (47-7), #3060 Many (LA) (51-0), #3220 East Feliciana (Jackson, LA) (21-14), #4311 Loyola College Prep (Shreveport, LA) (49-0), #9043 General Trass (Lake Providence, LA) (70-0), #11259 North Caddo (Vivian, LA) (67-0), #11544 Lakeside (Sibley, LA) (69-13), #12566 Springhill (LA) (69-0), LOSSES: #4 Lake Travis (Austin, TX) (46-31), #88 Curtis [John] (River Ridge, LA) (35-14)

Destrehan (NOLA) was the best team in Louisiana that year (2008) without a doubt. Top 25 in all the national polls....played a heck of a schedule.

1 Destrehan (LA) Louisiana 5A District 6 5A 14-0 5-0 (1st) 13-0 69.9 40.2 95-57
WINS: #50 West Monroe (LA) (14-3), #147 Central (Baton Rouge, LA) (21-14), #192 Higgins [L. W.] (Marrero, LA) (27-18), #192 Higgins [L. Evangel did put a hurting on 4A State Champ Shiloh Christian, AR that year though...

I remember Euless Trinity putting 80 on 4A State Champ Shiloh Christian in 2010. lol

Never mind Sammy, I see Carroll. Lake Travis’ run was 2007 - 2011 but someone who knows them better would have to tell when their best 3 year run is.

@ChimpGrip?

2007-2009

47-1 two undefeated seasons and three titles (ended '09 season on 46-game winning streak). Also set state single season passing yardage record in '08 and averaged 50 ppg in both that year and '09.

What were the signature wins and records for those years?

La Marque had some phenomenal teams under Weddell. I lived not far from La Marque back in the mid-90’s.

La Marque played for a title something like six years in a row and won in '95, '96 and '97 with '95 being the best team. Led by Derrick Foster, Johnathan Cooper, a star LT who’s name I can’t remember who went to UT and a great defense. 1994 La Marque had an elite defense too (known as the “black hole” if I’m not mistaken) and only returned a handful of starters the following year and fielded an arguably even better defense.

I would have taken that '95 La Marque Cougar team over any of the 90’s John Tyler or Stephenville teams.

Lake Travis 2009-‘11 or 2007-‘09

Record wise the best is 07-09 (47-1) with a win over a second place Evangel C.A. 🥈

They blew out Westlake 42-21 who nearly won state over Euless Trinity when ET was trying to be number #1 in the nation in 2009

They blew out state champion Aledo 62-35 in 2011.

I don’t know what’s more impressive.

{Atticus Finch. I know none of it is impressive to you 😉 “Lake Travis Sucks” }

2008 beat a great Longview team 48-23 who lost to Allen (5A champ who played a brutal schedule) only by a score of 21-7. LV ran all over Allen with 275 yards but fell way short of that when they played LT.

LT also beat Evangel Christian, Cibolo Steele (they finally won state in 2010 when they did NOT have to face LT)

Also beat quite a few other good teams.

Yes 2009 was very good as was 2011. Any more questions... please ask!

La Marque Cougars 1995 - 1997. Some would say the team of the 90s in Texas.

95 team is considered one of the best ever in the state by many.

La Marque has always had very fast, athletic teams with physical lines. They’ve had good teams in the 2000’s with those qualities but the mid-90’s Cougars were pinnacle of La Marque football. Incredible athleticism and talent. They were like the run first version of North Shore of today. La Marque also had a great coach, Weddell is a HOF Texas High School football coach.

As a side note, Bosco had 2 All Americans on the 2009 team, plus several on 2011... What teams have 2 MNC in two years besides Bosco and I think, STA, who Bosco had beaten twice...

That's what they were. Seen them play back in the day in person. North Shore before North Shore.

Too bad they're trash now. School isn't even a shell of what it used to be.

Just gonna list their best year:

95 Team:

16 - 0

Didn't give up any points till a safety in week six of the season.

Didn't even give up 1000 total yards for the entire regular season.

Smashed opponent Denison in the state title game 31 - 8. Gave up less than 100 yards of offense in that title game.

Was ranked in the top 10 in some national polls those years.

They won 5 state championships overall, and competed for 3 others.

You are working hard, I'll give you that......NO ONE here knows what you are talking about when you say All Americans....what are YOU talking about?

Most every team on the list is filled with D1 Blue-Chip talent (lots of it)

That DLS loss is the only one where they were completely dominated, not one of there best teams but a still a good thrashing.

They played trash competition.

Just like Lake Travis.

How many more schools would we be mentioning if they got to play Calallen and Denison in their "big" games?

Now Atticus, Do we need to have a talk with Sammy about the tier placement of relative Florida teams?

I don’t think you would want that.

La Marque was a national power then.

As my receptionist, I need you to know these things 😌
