In 2008, DLS started the season with a... 29-28 win over Serra (8-4) and a... 27-21 win over Layola (6-5) before losing... 23-21 to DBP. I'm not sure why you'd think that DLS was head-and-shoulders above DBP in 2008. And in 2009, I don't think that anyone believed that DLS would be DBP.
