A Big Black Eye for Georgia

You're clearly rattled now.

I said as much last week.

You just claimed (in this thread) that Valdosta hasn't been very good in a long time but now all of the sudden you think they are?

You're all over the place.

The reason is because you're determined to defend everything related to Georgia whether or not it's rational.

They havent been very good in a while. But this season Rodemaker took over as HC. And while Valdosta is not flashy, or star studded, or explosive on offensive in any fashion... nor are they very big. They play with a lot of heart, they hit, and unless you have  a very balanced offense, their D can shut you down. They beat some solid teams... truly.

Valdosta HASNT been very good over the past 10 years. Theyve been very mediocre... but Rodemaker (who was their DC before this year) clearly brought a different mindset. A more teamly mindset. They CAN play good defense, and CAN be efficient on offense. They actually succeeded with a 2 QB system. You saw Hunter Holt, score their last TD with a 24 yard QB draw...

Ok... the POINT... Valdosta is not as bad as the score made them look. And Chandler is much better than given credit for. We just havent had anyone talking about them because of that 1 MP game... but guess what? 2 games stand out...

Corona Centennial 56, Chandler 49 (a game Chandler led a lot of and very easily couldve won)

Chandler 36, Mountain Pointe 17

And then them beating known AZ powers like Brophy Prep 56-7, Perry 62-20, Hamilton 63-28 ... etc, etc...

I remember you making a big deal of STAs miscues vs DBP ... even though they outgained them in total offense, they lost bc of special team miscues. Well, a lot of why Valdosta lost the way they did was bc of Special Team miscues... and 1 bc the QB just dropped the ball..  Valdosta does not look flashy, Chandler had them destroyed in the flashy department, but you dont need to be flashy to win...  Valdosta is better than what you are giving them credit for. Maybe that game didnt accentuate it...  but they are.

And they still aren't.

You think they all of the sudden got good over one off-season?

They're an 8-4 Class 7A team masquerading as a 14-1 Class 6A state champion.

Last year they lost to Colquitt County by 35, Grayson by 33 and Camden County by 21. Outside of that they had a bunch of 10, 6, 3 and 4 point wins.

They promote their defensive coordinator and now you think they're good?

What a goofball.

So they have no players, aren't explosive and aren't big but boy are they good!

Puhlease.

Go sell this garbage to somebody who's buying.

They lost by 35 to Colquitt last year.

They lost by 21 to a lesser Colquit this year.

Other than that they moved down to a much weaker classification.

That's pretty much the entire reason for the jump from 8 wins to 14.

No, they were just exposed by chandler AND Colquitt for what they are.

What's funny if you go back and read that Chandler vs. Valdosta thread. ATLien told him exactly what was gonna happen to Valdosta.  Yet it's like Arizona Nuked Atlanta as the daily they were leading but shit happened and then they weren't ever again.  :D

Quick find this guy and lock him up he has caused a massive meltdown in Jawjaa.  They mutilated Valdosta and need to be put down quickly or this will never end.

Id favor Chandler(very slightly) as they were straight demolishing everyone in AZ at years end

So winning by 19 is 'demolishing everyone in Arizona' but a 20-point loss (and a 28-point 4th quarter deficit) is not a bad result for Valdosta.

And this is after he said he only favored Chandler slightly.

Valdostas victims:

Tucker (#2 in 6A)

Northside-WR  (#3 in 6A)

Lowndes (7A) (#7 in 7A)

Dalton (#5 in 6A)

Lee Co. (#8 in 6A)

Houston Co.(#9 in 6A)

Stephenson (#11 in 6A)

Coffee (#10 in 6A)

Tift Co. (#15 in 7A)

Northgate (#13 in 6A)

Woodland(Stockbridge) (#6 in 5A)

Thomas Co. Central (#9 in 5A)

...

Only loss to Colquitt...(#4 in 7A... realisitcally #5!)

I refuse to believe a team that can go 14-1 vs that, wont have a good showing against just about anyone.

But now a 3 touchdown loss isn't a bad showing.

I could see BG beating them 42-14... maybe not quite as bad as they did CHill bc Valdosta better than Cedar Hill, but they will make you have to really play for 4 quarters.

Holy shit... someone has completely lost their mind in this thread. Ive never seen anyone other than Caj mumble to himself whilst patting himself on the back like this for pages

Apparently Cedar Hill losing to BG by 30 is a greater accomplishment than Valdosta losing to Chandler by 20... lol NOT. Had CHill & BG kept going it wouldve gotten worse.

Chandler on the other hand only scored 14 points in the entire 2nd half vs Valdosta and 1 of their TDs was right after the opening 2nd half KO that Chandler recovered.

Its interesting how peoples memorys are distorted by only a few days. And when they get excited , exaggerations run amuck.

And the part about Valdosta making anyone have to play... Chandler had to play.

Read... and hopefully this clears up your memory...

Chandler scored on their opening possesion... it was 8-0 with 10:15 or so still left in the 1st quarter. Valdosta had to punt on their 1st possession... but had Chandler pinned back inside their own 15... Valdosta forced a 3 & out dominating the LOS. Valdosta would receive a Chandler punt and drive the ball down to score, yet missing the 2 pt try. It was 8-6 at that point.

A few drives stall back and forth... we move forward a bit, with Valdosta kicking to Chandler... Chandler gets to about their own 35-40 before Valdosta LB Zakoby McClain rips the ball out of Chandler RB TJ Greens hands... Valdosta hits a FG and takes a 9-8 lead. Valdosta again stops Chandler... Dosta is winning the battle at the LOS, and is getting constant pressure, and Chandlers forced to punt... Chandler now hasnt score in over 13 minutes of play as we are hitting 9 mins in the 2nd quarter with Valdosta leading 9-8. But... on this punt, instead of just letting the punt go like he shouldve, he sprinted after it in an attempt to catch it... but he muffed it... after holding Chandler to 8 points through 1.5 quarters of play... Chandler would score off the muffed punt.... and then on Valdostas ensuing possession, theyd fumble at their own 25, and give the ball right back again. Valdosta would actually hold Chandler off, and force 4th down... but a ridiculous PI call extended the drive... Chandler would score again after the PI revival, and the rest is history... because of the fumbles Valdostas D was on the field far too long vs a very explosive offense... and any momentum Valdosta held was gone.

Valdosta would score right before halftime to cut it to a 2 TD game... and was set to receive the kick after HT.  However, Chandler would kick it high & short and Valdosta would turn the ball over again. Chandler would score on the very next play. Valdosta held Chandler to only 1 more TD for the final 23 mins and 50 seconds... Chandler scored 4 of their 6 TDs within about a 7 minute span....the other 41 minutes yeilded only 2 TDs.

This game... IF you watched it, was only bad bc of turnovers... Valdosta played better D than you give them credit for. 44 points is a lot but its hard to put all of them on the D... the STs was responsible for 14 of them and the offense responsible for 7.

By default due to being a Ga team

bad offenses = great defenses

similar to how DLS hyper improves once they settle into the Something something Valleys in Nor Cal

Georgias strength specifically on D is their defensive lines... although the Defensive backfields have caught up recently due to the shift in offensive schemes...its hilarious 1 game where our 6A champ plays vs a top 5 team from the West,  Chandler , it means something about our defenses... a down Colquitt squad lit them up as badly... Valdosta strength their D front....

Youll find our offenses are doing quite s'well... as s'well. Check the 'sgames.

I do so love the over reacting thats always spews from other states fans.

Chandler had a 28 point lead in the 4th quarter.

So apparently being one play away from a running clock is 'making anyone play.'
