I'm just saying don't sell them short.  They know how to win.  They are 44 -1 under Gambill. After Murray

i like Gambill a lot...

i dont believe Westerberg wouldve had this same success with the same talent

Gambill has them a bit more loose

Westerberg had Murray ... and a 4 star transfer backup that saved them from an inferior Desoto team the year after

Wease is gonna be a headache.  Mickens at SLC gave them problems. They can be had iver the top.  That DL will be the factor.  Allen's OLine is solid.  Im cautiously optimistic.  This is based off watching each a few times.  They will also cause problems.  Allen has a goid defense as well.  I think Dville can beat them.  But I think it will be close.

Allen has not been challenged by a good defense in a while.  Tisdale has a tendency to stare down his first option WR who is always open. I’ve never seen him go through any progression:  he will this game and doesn’t have sturges to save him like what happened last year vs cedar ridge.

5 things to watch in epic Allen vs. Duncanville state semifinal, including a defense that hasn't allowed a point in third quarter all season

Saturday's 4 p.m. Class 6A Division I state semifinal between Allen and Duncanville at AT&T Stadium is perhaps the Game of the Year in Texas. Allen (14-0) is ranked No. 1 in the nation by USA Today, Duncanville (13-0) is No. 11 nationally, and they have combined to outscore the opposition 1,380-285.

The SportsDayHS computer formula that predicts win expectancies actually gives Duncanville a 50.3 percent chance to win. But keep in mind that the computer formula doesn't give as much weight to wins against out-of-area teams -- such as Allen's playoff victories over The Woodlands and Waco Midway -- as it does victories over Dallas-area teams like Duncanville has this postseason against Southlake Carroll.

Here are five things to watch during one of the best playoff matchups we have seen in a long time.

Duncanville's incredible third quarters

To have any chance against Duncanville, you had better take advantage of any scoring chances you get early. You aren't going to come back in the second half against a defense that allows an average of 4.6 points per game.

The most amazing statistic about Duncanville is that it has not allowed a point in the third quarter all season, outscoring the opposition 151-0 in that quarter.

In the second half, Duncanville has outscored its opponents 250-7.

In the third round of the playoffs, Arlington Lamar's first two drives of the game both got as far as Duncanville's 4-yard line, but both times Lamar had to settle for field goals. Instead of having a lead, Lamar trailed 7-6 and then was outscored 38-0 the rest of the way.In last week's regional final, Southlake Carroll reached the Duncanville 25 on its first drive and got to the Panthers' 16 on its third drive. Both times, Carroll missed field goal attempts that could have made it a 7-6 game in the second quarter. Duncanville went on to build a 20-0 lead and ended up handing Carroll its worst playoff loss ever -- 51-7.

Allen and the turnover battle

Allen does not beat itself. That is a big reason why it's on a 30-game winning streak.

This season, Allen has turned the ball over just seven times -- four interceptions and three lost fumbles. Allen's defense, meanwhile, has forced 21 turnovers by the opposition and has also blocked five kicks.

Allen quarterback Grant Tisdale, committed to Ole Miss, has been as efficient as any player in the Dallas area. He has completed 71.8 percent of his passes and has thrown 30 touchdown passes and only three interceptions.

Duncanville scoring on defense

Opposing offenses have scored eight touchdowns against Duncanville all season. Duncanville's defense has scored more than that, producing 12 touchdowns, including eight interception returns for TDs.

Duncanville had two interception returns for touchdowns last week against Southlake Carroll -- one by Anthony Cruz and one by Ennis Rakestraw. Cruz has five of Duncanville's 17 interceptions this season.Entering last week's game, Southlake Carroll had three turnovers in 13 games. They had five against Duncanville.

Duncanville's defense will face its biggest test of the season Saturday. Allen averages 50.4 points and 483.8 yards of offense per game.

Top two running games

Duncanville and Allen rank first and second among area 6A teams in rushing, with Duncanville averaging 302.1 yards per game and Allen averaging 296.1 yards. Both teams have a pair of 1,000-yard rushers thanks to an elite dual-threat quarterback.

Running back Celdon Manning leads Allen in rushing with 1,162 yards and 15 touchdowns, but quarterback Grant Tisdale is right behind with 1,155 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Running back Trysten Smith is Duncanville's leading rusher with 1,139 yards and 19 touchdowns, and quarterback Ja'Quinden Jackson has run for 1,098 yards and 19 TDs.

Duncanville's pass rush

Allen will want to get the ball to five-star wide receiver Theo Wease, an Oklahoma pledge who has 66 catches for 940 yards and 14 touchdowns. But for that to happen, Allen's offensive line will have to protect three-star quarterback Grant Tisdale against a tremendous Duncanville pass rush.

Duncanville's defense has 39 sacks and 121 tackles for loss in 13 games. Defensive linemen Kamaurja Kenny, Charleston Craddock-Jackson and De'Braylon Carroll have combined for 27 sacks and 65 tackles o matter if itg-6642.xgi?pkey=&chpcm=130349&chpsg=&chpcr=156784&chpck=&rand=665973609&chpth=2592271?ta_partner_id=950&ta_redirect=https%3A%2F%2Ft.myvisualiq.net%2Fsync%3Fprid%3D1001%26ao%3D0%26pruuid%3DTAPAD_%24%7BIDS%3Akey%7Dimpression_pixel?r=2504199454&et=i&ago=212&ao=749&aca=21774106&si=4987396&ci=106818642&pi=231030154&ad=428468178&advt=8542521&chnl=-7&vndr=115&sz=6865&u=pt=i

He's improved from that.  He also used to hold onto the ball as well.  This Defense will challenge them.  Wease is gonna be the problem more so than anyone

They need to jam wease at the line and take him away as the 1st option.  Let Tisdale have to scramble a bit and make him make a play with secondary options.

They need to double him and keep up the pressure. Allen got some beef on that O-Line. That Dville secondary is big especially the Safety.  Kid is big and physical.  They are fast they ran Mickens down and stripped him at the goal line. Along with BG the fastest HS defense I've seen in person in HS.  Those kids close in a hurry.   And I've seen a few games here.

I tell you what’s funny though and that’s reading the comments from folks on the Texas site.  There are several that really really dislike Allen.  😂

I know one of them from Collin County that will be there with me rooting against them 🤣. A lot of people in CC don't like them either.  Great community, great fans, good kids.  Im good with ten Eagles but I will be goung against them for the 1st time ever.  Remember last year I was all in on them vs. The Austinites 🤘 can't root against Coach Samples.  Much respect for him.  What ever happened to Ra'Shaad? That kid was a baller at Skyline.

I agree. I was never a huge fan of Westy. Then he brought in his son as the OC and I was pissed. His kid wasn't good. I'd love to see what Fleener could have done with this team. Gambill has done well, though.

You didn't use "really" enough to demonstrate the hatred that has surfaced this year. It's an obsession for a few, particularly the Plano folks.

Yeah, they need to shut it down.  They've crossed a line that's not appropriate name dropping kids in alleged illegal recruiting.

@Horsefly.  Thoughts on the 4A battles.  Those matchups are as good as 6A.  Very similar you have 3 powerhouses and Decatur is like Tascosa.  They came out if nowhere.  We could have Carthage vs La Vega in the Ship.

Carthage vs. liberty Hill

LaVega vs.  Decatur

LeVega is going to roll Decatur

Carthage and Liberty Hill too close to call

Tascosa has a few 2 way players and not very big. Hmmmm.  They seem to be destroying what others say when I talk about a certain talented little team.  🤘http://etsn.fm/preview-longview-seeks-first-state-title-game-since-2009/

Good info in this link.  I will be watching this one on Sat.

Their QB is a FS and RB is a LB. How can they do this in 6A? 😎

Tascosa

  • RB King Doerue, Sr., 5-11, 205 (154 carries, 1,321 yards, 20 TDs; 15 catches, 304 yards, 5 TDs; committed to Purdue)
  • WR Brandon White, Sr., 6-0, 170 (11 catches, 197 yards, 2 TDs; committed to Baylor)
  • QB/FS Joseph Plunk, Jr., 5-9, 170 (26 of 62, 575 yards, 7 TDs, 5 INTs; 255 carries, 1,549 yards, 14 TDs; 72 tackles, 8 for loss, 1 sack, 1 INT)
  • RB/LB D’Andre Gonzalez, Sr., 5-8, 175 (109 carries, 855 yards, 12 TDs; 28 tackles, 3 for loss, 2 sacks)
  • SB Ayden Noriega, Sr., 5-9, 170 (43 carries, 671 yards, 7 TDs; 4 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD)
  • RB Parker Settle, Jr. (98 carries, 598 yards, 4 TDs)
  • DE Randall Campbell, Sr., 6-0, 225 (67 tackles, 16 for loss, 9 sacks)
  • LB La’Byreous Moore, Jr., 6-3, 215 (82 tackles, 18 for loss, 6 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries)
  • SS Brandon White, Sr., 6-1, 170 (41 tackles, 3 for loss, 8 INTs, 2 fumble recoveries)
  • LB Daemian Gray, Sr., 6-0, 180 (80 tackles, 13 for loss, 2 sacks)
  • CB Tylan McKellar, Sr., 5-11, 182 (43 tackles, 3 INTs)
  • LB Christopher Sunn-Solis, Jr. (41 tackles, 1 for loss, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries)
  • Thumbs Down 1

Their skill guys are not that big.  I don't know about their offensive line.  . It seems they run with  4 LB's with one decent sized kid. I'm starting to believe Lobos wear em out unless that running game is like Liberty Hill's where size don't matter because of execution.  Those guys listed to watch for on Defense are not very big compared to the other 6A guys.  Allen and Dville much bigger on Defense.  The Safety @ Dville is just as  big than the biggest LB listed.

Westlake vs West Brook Saturday at Legacy is tempting. Was going to watch Westlake play Katy there last year but Harvey ruined things. Might be interesting. Westlake lost to Cy Ranch the first game of the year, I think if they played now Westlake would take them. I don't know much about West Brook, but barely getting by Tompkins leads to to believe that Westlake might take this one. Tompkins was playing well this year, but I don't understand the loss to Cinco Ranch. The teams are starting to settle in now in the Katy ISD. So much growth here, so many relatively new schools, but getting more competitive as the boundary lines are clearer, and the coaches settle in with more of a grasp of what they have.

Duncanville the surprise dominant force in 6a this year. To me anyway,  I didn't know that much about them. In 5a it's Shadow Creek here in the Houston area, pulling some of the talent that used to be Manvel's.

Duncanville and Allen, I have no idea. (the way Ducanville handled SL is scary)

The UIL bracket doesn't show where the Longview, Tascosa  game is being played. I was just curious.
