I was a jr. high student then. Art and band ruled my life ☺️ but I do think I remember that I liked to at least keep up with the teams that had won state. So, I probably at least knew that. Kiner’s corner was HOF slugger and Mets announcer Ralph Kiner interviewing a player after the game, still in their uni, possibly having a smoke or beer ….whether a Met or an opponent… more often an opponent lol. Was fun. Mets had a great trio with Kiner, Schaefer and Nelson at the time. Yanks had Bill White, Messer and the Scooter of course. Kiner was like scooter in the later years. You never knew where a story was going and lots of mistakes made… but in their prime, both were entertaining. The Scooter was a solid SS for the Yanks and had at least one solid World Series effort that I recall. Kiner was a ladies man.
