2018 Pac-12 final standings not so glamorous for California schools.......I doubt a California school will make the Final College Polls..

https://pac-12.com/football/standings

Is college football fading and trending down in California? Since the college football playoffs started not one California school has made it.

Looking ahead (2019) not 1 California school made the Athlon Way Too Early Top 25....

I posted this in another thread. College football in California is hot garbage. Not even average but hella shit.

And it definitely is a reflection of how bad High School football in California has become. For decades they led the country in the most NFL players. Now Florida has blew right by them, and Texas and Georgia are on their heels. There has been a sharp decline that maybe someone from California can explain better.

People are easily brainwashed to think California is a power HSFB State because they can stockpile 50 transfers on 2 teams and create hollow rankings and titles beating neighborhood teams. But in fact Mater Dei and SJB don’t represent the other 1,100 plus schools in any way. They are the outlier. They are AAU teams that do not in any way reflect quality football played at a traditional high school level. The only title California has won is the best stockpiling of high level recruits on 1-2 teams.

The Pac 12 is garbage and California college football is garbage because it all starts from high school and works it’s way up. Same way New England college football sucks. Because the HSFB sucks

Ca. feeds the entire Pac 12 and also schools around the nation. Because the  Ca. schools are in a funk the past couple of seasons doesn't mean squat.  University of Texas has had similar problems in that players from Texas have been going else where.  That has changed these last couple of seasons with new coach and they are becoming relevant again. Things go in cycles. If USC can get a high profile coach, you will see talent migrate there once again.

Usc,ucla still get all the talent they want lol. And theyll still go 5-5. They just aint good. This years Fresno state would beat em. Fresno state has been the most consistent cali team recently. Pac 12 might wanna pick em up lol

The best team from Cali over the past 10 years or so is Stanford and it’s not even close.

Every year about this time the conversation is always about the SEC because we lost a bowl game......the SEC isn't this and that, overrated, overhyped,  can't do this or that, no QB's, can't play offense, and etc..........stupid SEC memes, cousin jokes (really original), and the entire SEC hatred thing ...

Yet, NO ONE, NO ONE makes their case why their league is better.

The SEC is good conference but it has it's flaws for damn sure....

Alabama, Georgia, Florida and LSU are the only teams worth even mentioning from the conference right now...

The Pac-12 is a dad joke....

The ACC is the Big Ten except with Clemson....

The Big Ten is the ACC except with The Ohio State....

The Big 12 is both combined with no defense...

And Note Dame is.... Notre Dame...

Yes youre right forgot about em. They dont recruit like the other cali schools tho. Theyre more national and dont really get the same amount of blue chips as the other cali schools but i said this year.. that fresno team was fast , where do they recruit the most? Serious question

UF is on the rise

UGA and bama are loaded in talent

But sorry but until LSU beats bama like Ole miss 2x, Texas A&M and Auburn 2x have done since 2012 (when LSU current losing streak began) they don't belong mentioned with BAMA

Who fuckin cares

That's your argument for SEC being badass?

That's like saying AFC east is strong for having 8 super bowl appearances since 01 even though it was all by one team

Stop riding bama dick and pretending it makes the rest of the teams elite

Bama is currently only SEC team who has done anything worth bragging about lately

Ironically they have the least amount of California players on the roster then any other college team in the state.

Makes sense and I’m not surprised. I recall reading somewhere that Stanford has the highest percentage of kids accepting scholarship offers compared to any school in the  country.

This is an interesting article about Stanford recruiting and it gives me a good appreciation for the success they have had in football.

There is one reason only for the decline. The death 💀 penalty the NCAA imposed out of pure fear of USC.The Very best kids no longer attended a school that wasn’t allowed to play for anything. Also severely cutting their scholarships.

Alabama caught  breaking rules but no death 💀 penalty. The U with the ugliness going on there but no death 💀 penalty.USC was the threat to their cash cow SEC so yeah let’s tie some rocks to them and drop them in the ocean.Anything else is ridiculous

The Bush violation stuff was nuts...always seemed odd that USC got it so hard when Alburn, Duke, Ohio State, Miami, Penn St and few others commited much worse infraction but didn’t get hit as hard.

if USC can get on track with a good coach, they will be challenge for NC real soon. USC, Texas, Ohio State and Alabama are the school that “recruit themselves”...you add to that good coaching and your off to the races...

Exactly. The good ole boy network was getting brutally exposed by the west coast giant so they found a way to change that

Honesty a big part of it nobody really cares about college sports in California. It’s a pro sports state (Lakers, Dodgers, Warriors, 49ers etc.)

Cal or Stanford could be playing in the CFB championship game and the 49ers could be playing a week 16 game at the same time and I’d bet ratings in NorCal would be 75% watching the 49ers.

NCAA is arbitrary and selective it seems, figure this.... SMU gets death penalty, Penn State gets probation. SMU pays out cash and cars while latter has knowledge of an serial perv diddling orphans in showers back to the 70’s.
