The most competitive playoff bracket in the US?

If Florida had an open tournament similar to AZ these would be the teams involved.

STA              7A 9-0

NW               5A 8-2

Lakeland     7A 10-0

Armwood    7A 9-1

AHP              5A 8-1

Central         6A 7-3

Edgewater   7A 9-1

Seminole      8A 9-0

The best teams from 8A to 5A in one bracket. Competitive games every week leading up to an undisputed state championship.

The bottom line is that most states are trending towards creating more divisions and more championships. So it’s refreshing to see that Arizona is going in the opposite direction.

What would it look like for Georgia?

I can imagine it would be mostly filled with 7A teams...

Remember that the WCAC is split into two divisions - Capital (SJC, GZ, DM, OLGC, and McNamara) and Metro (Ryken, Paul VI, Carroll, Bishop Ireton, and O'Connell).  They did not opt out to play the Capital division.  In fact, if you look at their schedules, they played teams from the Capital division this year and hopefully that will continue and increase.  Ryken will not leave the Metro division anytime soon, unless they are looking to become the McNamara of the Capital division.  Don't have the talent to play at that level and location is a big issue for them in recruiting.

I don't know who "opted" for what division but Nicholas Malibu is correct in saying none of the Virginia schools played any of the top 4 Capital teams. In fact the only Capital division team any of the Virginia teams played was PVI vs McNamara (won by McNamara 38-6). I would also dispute that Ryken would be no more competitive than McNamara has been...they beat McNamara the past few years and gave Good Counsel a scare this year losing by three after leading for much of the game.

Not a great year for FL honestly.   Still good, but not to FL standards IMO.   5 of those 8 teams have an OOS loss SMH.

Unless you have seen them play in person this year, I still have to disagree.

Katy may have the most difficult path to state title as compared to other national elite teams

1st Round Fort Bend Ridge Point 8-2

2nd Round Cy-Fair  10-0  another under appreciated team nationally

3rd Round  North Shore - easily one of the very best teams in the country

4th Round - several really good teams could be waiting here ( Dickinson, Fort Bend Travis , Katy Tompkins,  Humble Atascocita)  those 4 have 3 losses between them

5th Round - Lake Travis or Converse Judson

final - Duncanville or Allen

The Texas 6A Div1 Region 3 bracket will be a very competitive bracket this year.  It includes all 8 district winners, and 7 of 8 district runner-ups.  The favorites are North Shore & Katy, but they cannot sleep on other teams like Cy-Fair, Dickinson, & Atascocita.  Others that can make some noise and/or spoilers are Katy Tompkins, Fort Bend Travis, & Pearland Dawson.

As Texasball states above, the winner coming out of this region will then likely face LT/Judson, then Duncanville/Allen, or possibly SLC at state.  If a Reg3 rep does end up in the state championship they will definitely be battle tested.

Yes, probably vs Corner Canyon UT.

There is an odd situation in the Utah 6A bracket. Lone Peak had to forfeit some of their regular season games but were still allowed to qualify for the playoffs. Their  record now stands at 4-9 and they are in the semifinal round. They can beat Corner Canyon next Friday and win it all the following week. I believe that they could be the first UT state champ with a losing record.

Also Bingham lost on Friday to East. It seems that their long reign in UT has ended.
