Belief and forcing that belief on someone else just because you wanna be the judge are two different things. I know it's a big topic, but if you can believe that polygamy is not a proper marriage, and if you can support legislation that would make polygamous marriages unlawful without being regarded as hateful or as infringing upon the rights of others, then you should at least in principle be able to take a similar stance on same-sex marriages without being regarded as hateful.
