Some California news

Early Signing Day saw the two local schools, USC and UCLA, only sign ONE Offensive Lineman between the two.

The UCLA Bruins signed one of the top OL/OT Prospects in the state, Sam Yoon a 6’5 295 LT from Loyola High.

Football is about the basics. You still have to block and tackle. No line, no shine. Someday, these folks will learn.

In 2022, Loyola will return 4 of their 5 starters up front, including Senior to be #68 Jack Susnjar (6’6 310) and Junior to be #72 Rashad Westbrooks (6’4 250). Both returning Loyola linemen will take part in the US Army All-American Bowl Combine in January, along with returning RG Junior to be Ryan Turk (6’4 265).

@HurricaneNick Rumor is Austin Westlake turned down a game with MD.  Do you know if that's true?

Yes. They are on the very long list of teams to turn MD down for a game this year. Publics and privates all across the country. MD was open to play any of the top 5 teams from Texas and Samples was the only one that had any interest.

Apparently SJB seemed a better option for Texas 🤷🏽‍♂️

Let’s see what teams are willing to play MD next year. We need 3 games.

This was an off cycle year, most Texas schools already had a schedule complete. DV was available b/c they had openings from their 1 series OOS game in 2020

Should be top 4-5 national preseason. They will be very good, along with Bosco and Centennial. Broken record right! MD will need to fill holes at the WR position more than anywhere. Their lines will be exceptional. They have 2 returning RBs that are very good. QB returns for 3rd season. We need a new kicker also.

WR Marcus Harris. Remember the name. Michigan, ASU, Pitt, and Fau have already offered him. 6’2 170 freshman. Him, Jack, and Big Spence are going to stretch the field. Kassius Ashtiani, Dj Drayton and Seth Zamora will also contribute.

Spencer Shannon has a huge upside. He has an amazing frame and I hope Taylor Kelly makes his the focus of the passing game.

WR coach James Finley just landed a coaching job at Colorado State. Good for him as he is an excellent young dynamic coach and did great things with the WRs.

No way Westlake would have risked getting curbstomped by MD anyway on their coach's farewell tour.  And a curbstomping it would have been, with as sorry as Westlake looked against the #34 team tonight.
